This annual event honours the memory and the deeds of prominent educator Louis Lynch, who founded Barbados’ Modern High School in 1944 with two students and eventually expanded it to a roll of some 1,800 pupils prior to his death in 1969.
The Roebuck Secondary School was renamed for him in commemoration of his contribution to education, and a stand at the National Stadium bears the name of this former outstanding athlete as well.

Since late last year, the Christ Church Foundation School has been mounting a series of events to commemorate its 200-year milestone, boasting an illustrious history since its humble beginnings in 1809 as two separate schools – one for boys and one for girls. The two schools have been amalgamated since 1978 and its students and old scholars continue to make notable contributions to Barbadian life, culture and sports.
